AYES IS CHAMPION TOPPER AT SORGIUM CONTEST
Herman Ayes of Nance county won the first official Nebraska sorgium topping contest with 4 88 bushels of grain topped by a butcher knife. Richard Bangert of Webster county finished second. Twelve county champions competed in a 45 minute event on the G H Finney farm near York as educational exhibits and demonstrations drew crowds seeking advice on sorghum production and use.

New Temporary Straw Silo Tested by Polk County Farmer
Paul Monson, a pasture-forage cooperator near Osceola, built a straw silo fifteen feet in diameter and about twenty feet tall with neighbors. The 75 ton capacity silo uses two strands of No 9 wire per bale layer, except top layers with one strand. It cost around twenty dollars and is in the experimental stage.

Mrs. Hi B Saunders 82 died at her daughter’s home in Eau Claire Wisconsin on Saturday evening She had lived in Polk until recently when she fell ill and moved to her daughter’s home The only survivor is her daughter Funeral services were held Tuesday and she was buried in Eau Claire Wisconsin.
