An AP report from Lincoln cited in The Grand Island Independent says Nebraskans show higher happiness levels after more than 1800 telephone interviews. Most respondents reported satisfaction with spare time and community convenience, while 47 percent faced housing issues and 58 percent viewed neighbors as very good.

Library Fund Gains From Talent Show Donation and Project List
The Polk Library Fund received 657.34 from a talent show and a 25 gift from Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Sr. about 300 attended. The library board thanks sponsors Crescendos and Mary Jane Samuels and invites a volunteer work session Wednesday 1:30 pm to prepare the building and sell thrift shop items. Funds will upgrade front entry, ducts, plumbing, ceiling, walls, carpet, and furniture.
