Cong and Mrs J N Norton return to Washington as Polk endures a 36 hour blizzard burying the area. Socials and dinners mark community life with Thanksgiving visits and a large church anniversary celebration drawing hundreds. local outings include trips to Lincoln and Columbus.
Milfred Johnson bid 266 on 120 acres and Raymond Sundberg 190 on 160 acres in Osceola land sales last week. The Sunday Journal and Star named football All Star teams with Gaylen Holmes of Polk as the sole Goldenrod Conference pick. Several local social notes followed including visits to Grand Island Veterans Hospital, deer hunting Near Sundance Wyoming, an oyster supper at Nybergs, and birthdays and weddings in Central City and Stromsburg communities.

Kelso and Larson families dinner guests at Myron Larson home. Jim Lundstroms and Rolland Ekstrom hosted guests. Ronald Sarow and Oscar Jones hosted Osceola guests. Nancy Oquist stayed overnight with Julie Carlson. Russell Larson stayed with Lee Morris at Benedict Friday and Saturday.
Mr and Mrs Lee Hanson and family of Stromsburg were Sunday dinner guests in Carroll Flodman’s home. The Flodmans hosted a pre Thanksgiving dinner with Wayne Best of Denver Alice Best of Central City and the Coovers. Other visits included Robin with Horace Stevens and C Marvin Fredrickson family, Arlette Johnson of Hampton visiting her parents, Happy Home Makers Club meeting hosted by Roy Glasser Jr., and guests in the Roger Gustafson home from Don Shoup Clyde Traves Rudy Anderson and Neal and Trent Tyler. Don Hanquist and Brad Sundberg hosted gatherings in Lincoln with birthday honors for Susan.
