Silver Creek Aerials Edge Cubs 23 22 in Final Fracas

In a season finale on home turf Polk Cubs held a 22 8 lead early third quarter but Silver Creek Tigercats mounted a comeback led by Scott Van Winkle and Ken Bills. Van Winkle connected on a late touchdown pass and Bills ran for key scores as Silver Creek rallied to win 23 22.

Sgt Darwin Neuhaus came home for a 30 day leave with his parents Mr and Mrs Arnold Neuhaus after a year in Viet Nam with the 1st Air Cavalry. He served in the invasion of Cambodia where he was wounded twice and helped locate rice and ammunition caches.

Shots To Be Given For German Measles At Grade School

German measles vaccine will be given to students at the grade school on Thursday November 19 at 9 00 am by Dr Loschen of Polk Medical Clinic. Students 11 years and younger will be vaccinated. Parental permission forms come home with students. Preschoolers 1 year and older may obtain forms at the grade school office. No charge for the shot.

Election results show mixed county and West Pleasant Home shifts

Countywide results favored Republicans overall with close races for Co. Assessor where Democrat Richard Anderson defeated Roy Horst 1,246 to 1,175, and J. J. Exon beat Norbert Tiemann 1,359 to 1,036. Dems gained in West Pleasant Home, while Martin and Searcy, Morrison and Hruska contests produced varied margins.
