Sharon Benson of York underwent major surgery at York hospital Friday morning. Mrs Doyle Klingsporn was transferred to Bryan Memorial hospital on Monday. Anna Kisler was dismissed from Osceola hospital last Tuesday and is recuperating at her daughter Mrs Clem Prososki in Omaha.
Polk High Cubs end football slate with a 6-3 record after a 28-12 victory over Wolbach on the local field. Early Wolbach lead erased by Polk as Shenk to Tallman and Hudson runs fuel a 15-6 first quarter margin, then 22-12 at halftime. Wolbach fights back in the third with Whalen passing, but Polk answers in the fourth with Burney sidelined by injury and substitute des Bender driving the final touchdown drive.
A children’s hour for preschoolers directed by Mrs Gaylord Stevens starts November 9. All 3 to 5 year olds are invited to the Community Hall next Wednesday morning from 9 30 for a story time and activities.
Mr and Mrs Steve Gustafson announce the birth of their son Nico Las Karl on October 29 at Aurora Hospital. The baby weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces. Proud grandparents are Mr and Mrs Roger Gustafson.
Fourteen Cub Scouts from Pack 183 and families enjoyed a Halloween party at Polk Community Hall. Susan Brazda and others organized games and a pumpkin decorating contest won by Brian Jones and Kelly Adams. Badges and pins were awarded for Webelos and Bobcat ranks in various naturalist aquaaunts and sportsman achievements.
Donations from Evangelical Free WMS ten dollars and Cub Scouts two dollars support a candy sale. Veterans Day window decorations by the Legion Auxiliary. No work day this week. Polk County Achievement Day takes place at the Vixing Center Stromsburg on Monday November 7 at 1 30 p m. Speaker is Mrs Ron Donna Baly. Public welcome.
Max Kroger former Polkite and Valley Center resident began work as assistant manager at the Farmers Co op Grain Association elevator in Polk on November 1. He is staying in Valley Center with his family until their new Polk house, moved from Paul Wagner’s, is finished. Max is the son of Ruth Kroger of Sioux Falls and the late Lloyd Kroger, longtime Polk merchant. Marlene Coover, daughter of Paul and Mrs Paul Coover, farms north of Polk.
A trailer home fire destroyed Mr and Mrs Ervin Fuehrer’s home near Bradshaw on October 28 at 11 30 am. The Bradshaw community seeks donations to replace the residence. Contributions may be given to Rasmussen Grain H S Service or mailed to Ed's Garage Box 38 Bradshaw Nebraska 68319.
Polk Grain Co will continue operating a grain and storage business in Polk according to owner Jack Dinsdale. Records will be kept at Central Grain Inc in Central City while new management for the feed business is negotiated. The business had ceased operations last week and staff were dismissed. Kim Brazda of Fullerton visited the Brazda home Thursday night into Friday.
