Sandhills Road Surfacing Solved by Oil Sand Mix

Nebraska engineers approved a sand and asphaltic oil road surface used on a half mile west of Ellsworth, allowing federal aid funding and a fast finish on Nebraska Highway No. 2 from Alma nce to Grand Island. The method promises lower costs for western sandhill highways.

Grand Island Poultry Show Rescheduled To Early November

Cold weather often lowers attendance at the Grand Island poultry show. The Mid West Poultry and Pet stock association moved the event to the week of November 4. George Davis, Howard County extension agent, spoke to breeders on the poultry industry at a recent association meeting.

Eleven Coyote Pups Found on York Farm Claim Record

Fred Romsdale reports a litter of 11 coyote pups found in a den on his York farm, a claimed catch of the year. County clerk John Muir notes many pups this spring, with nine in one group and four litters of eight each. A two dollar bounty per head is paid for all coyotes brought to the courthouse. The Ramsdale pups were too small to leave the den.
