Seventy eight million dollars in Liberty Bond interest will be paid to American people on May fifteenth. If bond holders redeem coupons for War Savings Stamps, the amount could grow to ninety three million dollars in 1924. Every four hundred sixteen dollars in stamps becomes five dollars. Keep the dollars growing.
Miss Jane Lind, who returned from Washington DC after a government post, has accepted a bookkeeper position at Farmers Co-Op store. Irvin Dornburg and wife leave Saturday for Lincoln to visit W B Smith and wife then Kansas City for tractor school. August Sack and Mr Spurs from Dorchester were guests of Philip Sack. Read the new ads this week.
The Waak and Mahnken families gathered as Miss Agnes Alwine wed Otis Waak on Wednesday at 4:30 in Immanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Polk with Rev. William Butzke officiating. The bride wore white satin and georgette. attendants wore pale pink organdy. A reception for about 100 guests followed at the bride’s home, with pink and white decor and palms and ferns. The couple now reside on a farm three miles southwest of Polk.
The Junior Class presented Diamonds and Hearts at the Viking theatre Friday evening May 2 before a large appreciative audience. Miss Olive Mahood directed the production with a capable cast led by Bernice Halstead and Tressa Hill.
Ed Larson completed a transaction through R L Cox to acquire the Mrs Su Banna Piper residence west of his former Theo Larson property. He plans to remain in the very beat part of town, indicating no move away.
Henry Smith born July 9 1842 in Germany came to Town in 1872 with his wife and later settled in Hamilton county Nebraska. Survived by sons Henry Jr John Carl and daughter Mrs Ernest Hahn with one son Frederick deceased. Died at home Henry Friday May 2 aged 76 years 9 months 21 days. Funeral from Immanuel Lutheran church May 4 at 2 o clock Rev Wm Butzke presiding. choir provided music.
