Local gossip and village visits fill Osceola paper

Polk Woman's Club Hosts Prospective Members Event

The Polk Woman's Club welcomed about seventy guests Monday evening. The Girl's Division Faithful Workers and Polk County Club attended. A program featured a musical trio, vocal solo by Mae Lewis, a speech by president J Garten, a piano solo by Walter Taylor, and a one act play. The Odd Fellows room was decorated with spring flowers and lamps. Refreshments included brick ice cream and cakes served buffet style.

Polk High Junior Senior Banquet Drenches Dutch Theme

The Polk High School annual Junior-Senior banquet was held in the Baptist church parlors last Wednesday evening. Forty two guests sat at small tables forming an H. Decorations featured a Dutch windmill and palms with honey dew and baby blue colors. Tassels of Holland tulips and wooden shoe favors graced the tables. Sophomores served in Dutch costumes as toasts and music followed the banquet.

Divorced Gladys Mincks Granted Absolute Decree

Judge L S Hastings grants Gladys F Mincks an absolute divorce from Charles D Mincks in York County Court after a rehearing. She receives custody of their minor child and the court finalizes a property settlement requiring Charles to deliver a note and mortgage on a quarter section of land near Benedict worth 10000 dollars to Mrs Mincks.
