Contest numbers start 8:00 A M with three sessions in the high school building. Public invited. admission 35 cents. Darwin Newton Named New Chadron State College Professor
Dr. Darwin R. Newton will join Chadron State College as professor and guidance counselor starting June 18. He holds a BSc from York College and Colorado State at Greeley, plus an MSc and PhD from Colorado State, with prior guidance work in Charlotte and teaching stints in Colorado Rising City and Wisner Nebraska. He served three years in the Army Medical Corps as a physical therapist.

Four Cub Players on All Conference Team
Representatives of the Golden Rod Conference named an all conference basketball squad after a final meeting on March 19. A 12 man team was chosen due to a tie vote with players including Joe Bolen Jerry Gdowski Larry Miley Max Kroger Darwin Hahn and others. Unanimous selections were Miley Green Hahn Hasselbach. The conference track meet is set for May 2 at Columbus and next year’s league basketball tournament will be held in Osceola.

Polk Nebraska will gain natural gas service after Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Co files with the Federal Power Commission for permission to build 614 miles of 2 inch pipeline and a border station at Polk. Construction will start after FPC approval.
