County Commissioners Meet in Osceola June 4 1974 Proceedings
Osceola Nebraska county board held a June 4 1974 meeting at 10 00 A M with all members present. They audited claims for various funds and approved warrants totaling numerous small items including supplies printing and mileage. Dr Steven Scott outlined a Region V mental health program and the board approved joining the interlocal agreement. The session adjourned at 3 30 P M with plans to reconvene June 18 1974.

Five Polk School Board teachers signed for the next year including Neil McCormick as principal and commercial instructor Robert Gaston as basketball coach and social science teacher. Opal Peck to teach English. Katherine Walker to lead 7th and 8th grades. Community events Sunday included a basket dinner in Polk park welcoming Rev Harold Jensen and wife, and a Swede Plain all host supper in Jensen’s honor. Families gathered at Hard Lake for picnics and Covenant Cedars campers attended by Bradley Sundberg and Darwin Neuhaus. Visitors Eugene Jones cabin on Duncan Lake marked Father’s Day with many relatives from Central City Bogota and Shafter California. Thirty-third Stromberg picnic drew 100 to Buckley Park.
