Fire Crackers in Polk Area Local News Briefs

Sacred patriotic concert by community orchestra at Methodist church

A Sunday evening performance under D. N. Carlson drew a nicely filled main auditorium despite bad weather. The audience praised the orchestral interpretation, balance, and expressive playing. The program featured Dorothy Green on piano and a lineup including James, Allison, Peterson, Johnson, Whitemore, Sundberg, Steelquist, Sundberg, Nelson, McGaffin, and others. A silver offering supported the orchestra. Thursday of next week marks the Fourth.

Vacation for Dr Fred Fouts at Central City

Dr Fred Fouts will be away from his office for three weeks starting July 1. The Rev William Butzke family, previously under smallpox quarantine, were released Tuesday. Mrs Butzke, daughter Esther, and grandson had contracted the disease.
