Community Dinner Supports Good Roads Initiative
Seventy seven tickets were sold for a Community dinner at the Hotel Hokenson last Friday. sixty five attended due to rain. The event included a three course dinner served by five young ladies and five young men, followed by a talk on good roads by Mr. Woltz of Fremont at the Viking theatre. The evening aimed to foster active interest in good roads and closer community ties. Also notes on Eckles Variety Store fireworks and visits by Mrs. Cliff Doremus, Judge Campbell, Mrs. Campbell, and Mrs. McBeth.

Attendance at church was good on Sunday though weather hot. Mrs Bowers of Pawnee City visiting in W A Bowers home. Earl Pickerel left for Kansas to work in a store. Jas Pickerel and wife dined with John Seymour last Friday. Alfalfa crop early cutting praised but worms worry farmers. Mrs Lynn departed for the Dakotas after visit with relatives. Grace Chapel attendees noted Rev Fletcher away. Semi annual business and preparatory service set for Saturday July 5 at 2 p.m. Everyone urged to attend. Special services next Sunday include welcome, talks, and returned soldier participation. Sunday School at noon, basket dinner to follow, then afternoon service. no evening service. Service hours updated to 11 a.m., 8 p.m., and 12 m old time now changed to new time 12, 1, and 9.
