Silage Boosts Vitamin A in Milk, Study Finds
Experiments by the agriculture department and state stations show milk vitamin A depends on carotene in cow feed. Winter milk is usually lower in vitamin A than summer milk due to feed. Silage preserving alfalfa yields more milk and high carotene. trials show silage cows produced over 7 percent more milk, with silage carotene about 14 times higher than field cured hay.
