Extended Heat Wave Hits Polk County Nebraska
Polk County and much of Nebraska endure an extended heat wave with daily highs reaching 106 degrees or more for over a week. Nights stay in the eighties offering little relief as residents sleep outdoors seeking breezes. Farmers worry the heat could damage the corn crop at a crucial stage, recalling last year's losses. A trace of rain on Saturday failed to provide relief amid widespread record highs.
