Washington July 14 The house failed to pass the agricultural appropriation bill over President Wilsons veto 347 to 135, two thirds not reached. The repeal rider would have ended daylight saving on October 26 but will be dropped from the bill, no separate repeal effort expected.
A motley roundup of weekend travels and underlined social visits from Fairmont to Lincoln and Shelby. Mrs J B Greppin dropped by Fairmont over Sunday and Mrs Golden Garretson headed home to Lincoln Monday. Charles Lind made a business trip to Shelby between trains. T A Lundberg traded a Paige touring car for a Paige speedster. Arnold Crow and wife and A E Sundberg and wife enjoyed Shady Lake Sunday. Boost for the Polk Chautauqua and Mrs GSM Johnson visiting relatives at Alliance. Several Polk business men aided farmers in the harvest. Mrs B Graves visiting parents Mr and Mrs Tewell Julesburg Golo. Samuelson and David Anderson were guests of Miss Clara Reynolds at Fairfield Sunday.
