Two Polk Boys Enter York Soap Box Derby
Sydney Widga and Ron Meer Katz from Polk entered a York Soap Box Derby on Reformatory Hill. Sydney in B group age 13 with York Floral Company sponsorship and car flowers. Ron in A group age 13 15 with KAWL sponsorship. Of 55 entries 32 finished as 2,000 spectators watched trials and finals won by R Hinze of York. The prize: 500 dollar savings bond and trip to Akron for the National Derby on August 15. Racers enjoyed a steak supper at Hotel McCloud.

Telephone Company Conducts First Customer Opinion Survey
Thomas C. Woods Jr, president of The Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company, announced a survey across 22 counties to gauge subscriber reaction, employee customer relations, and overall company standing. About 12 percent of subscribers will be sampled randomly by IBM equipment and asked not to identify themselves. The process, including distribution and analysis, should take six weeks.

McCoy Reunion Brims With Family Returns and Travel
Last week Mrs. C. J. McCoy hosted a large reunion as daughters and families gathered for the first time in four years. Attendees included M/Sgt. and Mrs. John Andrews and son from Japan heading to Biloxi, Miss., and visiting Cuba, Kansas. Lt. Col. and Mrs. C. E. Penrose and three sons arrived from Park Forest Illinois followed by Rev. and Mrs. Benny Baker and family, and Mrs. Don Springer with Mrs. Veda Springer of Minneapolis. Several relatives joined for suppers at the Samuels home as others departed for Italy, Illinois, and Minneapolis. The Andrews will remain a few days more before moving to Miss.
