Polk County Farm and Home Day was rescheduled to Monday February 4 at Osceola with the same program. A 9:30 a.m. start for the morning sessions at Muse Theater and Methodist Church includes lectures by Leo Lucas Delbert Lane and demonstrations. The event features a free noon lunch and outlines the 1963 voluntary feed grain and wheat stabilization programs with signup February 1 through March 22.
Local residents celebrated Mrs. Walter Stohl’s birthday with a luncheon hosted by invited guests. Numerous visits occurred including Arlyce Lind’s overnight guest Lynda Myers, Shostroms visiting at Osceola hospital, and gatherings with the Baptist Church board, Elmer Logan, and Sandells. The Fredricksons attended the Midwest Retail Farm Equipment Association convention in Omaha.
The document lists program rules for participants including base acreage limits for feed grains held by any farm interests, diversion payments to move acreage to conservation, price support payments at 18 cents for corn 14 cents for barley and 16 cents for grain sorghum based on normal 1963 production, and price support loans and purchase agreements available only to participants on their entire 1963 production of the three feed grains.
