Ice Fishing Tops Warm Weather Angling In Old Tale

Game Commission notes ice fishing can yield as much or more than warm weather angling. Ice gear is lighter, tip ups and monofilament lines are common, with bluegill perch crappie and northern pike among targets. Regulations allow up to 15 hooks per person and 5 hooks per rod. A shipment of 96 Rio Grande turkeys reached Nebraska in mid January, part of a program since 1961 stocking 190 birds in suitable habitats.
