Natalie Hahn, chosen as first place winner among entries from the surrounding territory, receives a $100 savings bond from the York Elks lodge. Her brochure advances to statewide competition in hopes of further honors.
Mrs. Ben Peterson, Mrs. Lloyd Widga, and Mrs. C. Marvin Fredrickson attended the event on Friday as Albion hosted a Music Clinic. A singing group of 950 voices delivered a fine program showcasing choral effort and harmony.
Polk County Extension Board will hold its annual reorganization meeting January 31 at 1 30 p m at the County Extension Office. Officers will be elected for the coming year and the 1963 program discussed. The board, part of the University of Nebraska system and U S Department of Agriculture collaboration, emphasizes local input in shaping urban and rural education programs. Continued on Page 8.
J E Mannie Benson dies Friday after brief illness at Aurora hospital. Hordville section notes his passing and community obituaries follow with local visits, church events, anniversaries, and upcoming Home Service Club meeting.
Sunday dinners and guests filled Polk county with social visits. Lydia Peterson hosted dinner with Wayne Hill Glen Hill Lloyd Hahn and the Fitz family while Walter Stahl and C Marvin Fredrickson attended an Albion school concert. The Harless house in Stromsburg welcomed multiple Harless and Browitt families and friends including Lee Harless Randy Harless and Laird Henglefelt. Additional visits included Hannah Hahn Doyle and Harlan Johnson with guests. The fifth graders and mothers held a birthday party for teacher Mrs Sterner at school followed by Sunday supper at Morris Linquist’s Central City home for Leon Meerkatz and Lynne Meerkatz. Friday coffee guests at Glon Meerkatz’s included Glen Brazda Renee Charles Nelson and Ricky. Riddlemoser and Gertrude Jacobsen of Central City dined with Harlan Johnson and Eddie Johnson, while W D Richardson and John Smith enjoyed Sunday afternoon visits.
