Ford Electric Starting and Lighting System Advances

Henry Ford tested the Ford Start ing and Lighting System on his car in 1911 and after years of research the Ford Motor Company begins installing the new system in enclosed cars from January 1 1919. The complete unit weighs 31 pounds and delivers higher output than competing devices. Output in the Starter Department nears 3000 units daily with rapid production gains from new machinery. The Bendix drive engages automatically and the system requires little maintenance. By soon, every Ford car will feature the Electric Starting and Lighting System.
