True Black Bart legend told as Oregon letter

An Oregon letter from January 5 1972 recounts a humorous myth about the Western bandit Black Bart. The writer cites a family tale linking Bart to the Houghs and describes his Robin Hood image, noted stage robberies, and quips about a supposed hidden stash and a death in his former master’s arms. Pax vobiscum, Bart.
