The Bank of Polk owner Warner has staff tearing out fixtures and remodeling the building for offices. Dr. J B Williams is expected to occupy the site. A new talkie will run at City Auditorium Saturday January 14 with two shows at 7 30 and 9 00.
The Polk congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will hold its next semi annual circuit assembly in North Platte February 8 10 1963. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York directs the ministry. Mervin H Oberg said members will begin plans to attend.
Last week visitors and luncheon guests of Mrs Hennie Seymour were Mrs Ella Shenk Mrs Chas Wright Mrs Will Kroger Mrs W C Steel Mrs Clara Anderson Mrs Clarence Meerkatz Mrs Maurice Sundberg of Tromsburg Rev and Mrs O A Johnson. Mr and Mrs Ester Lackey were oyster supper guests of Mr and Mrs George Scott on Sunday evening.
Saturday reports Mrs Neva Bright of Sterling Colo visiting her parents Mr and Mrs G M Hill. The group spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs G F Brownfeld in Lincoln. An open house honored Nellie Peterson on her 90th birthday December 31. Harold T J Nelson suffered a severe fall returning from his son’s home and was taken to Osceola hospital. Lawrence Gordon became owner of Polk Theatre in a recent transaction. Mr and Mrs Seth Piper received Christmas cheer as friends cleared snow from their drive.
Regular session convened January 2 1963 at 8 00 p m with all members present. Minutes Treasurer and Light and Water reports read and approved. Bills listed include Lincoln Tel Co City of Osceola National Chemsearch Polk Oil Farmers Union Coop Oil Polk Progress etc. Board approved bills and warrants and adjourned.
Mrs Hannah Hahn and Doyle visited her mother Mrs Channa Erickson and Bernice at a Central City Rest Home. They later were coffee guests of Mr and Mrs Harold Hanquist.
Mr and Mrs Glen Brazda hosted a Sunday dinner honoring their daughter Renee Brazdas baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church. Guests included Roger Brazda Yvonne Caldwell Lincoln and several local couples with extended family members listed as attendees.
