Insurance Co. Reports Continuing Growth at 88th Meeting

The Scandinavian Mutual Insurance Co. of Polk County held its 88th annual meeting at the Bit of Sweden Cafe in Stromsburg on Tuesday February 11. President Myron Jones noted six years of steady growth with only two major fire losses and many wind damage claims. Treasurer K D Branting presented the year’s stable statistics and investment plans were shared with the board. Harold W Anderson was re elected to a new three year term as director. A policy update proposal was introduced and will be finalized with the Department of Insurance. The lunch featured Adam Stempk on accordion Charles Prososki on drums and Joe Tomasevicz on violin.

Mike Fleming's Polk High Cubs beat Palmer 30-22 in a low scoring Friday game on Polk home floor. The Cubs then routed Marquette 66-46 on Saturday as Roger Carlstrom led with 30 points and Dana Anderson added 8. Polk sits 10-5 on the season and 34 in the conference. The team closes the regular season at Nebraska Christian and then faces Gilmer in the state district opener in Central City.
