Bird Watching Finds 46th Bird on 1974 List Near Polk
A week of birding along the Platte and Blue River areas yields 25 species including a white breasted nuthatch found near Blug and a second 1974 addition, a loggerhead shrike, with sightings of magpies, cedar waxwings, bluebirds, rough legged hawk, and a mallard seen southward. Mr and Mrs Leslie Adelson hosted Friday afternoon at the Edwin Brown home in Clarks. Grand Island visitors Mrs Dick Alderson and family called Monday afternoon, with Tuesday evening guests at the Stanford Ang home for Mrs Ang’s birthday, including Mr and Mrs Ollie Johnson and Mr and Mrs Rudolph Gustafson. Kent Anderson of Lincoln spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs Harod Anderson. Mr and Mrs Roger Hanquist and children visited Saturday afternoon. Reuben Hanquist hosted lunch guests. TCW club members Mrs C. Marvin Fredrickson and Mrs Russell Fjell attended a gathering at Mrs Harlan Johnson’s near Swede Home. 12 guests were present. Mrs Reuben Hanquist visited friends at Good Samaritan Home Monday. Dwight Burney and spouse attended a Farm Organization meeting at the Cornhusker hotel in Lincoln and hearings at the Legislature in the afternoon. Mr Burney received special recognition on the floor. Mr and Mrs Fred Dornburgh and their boys from Columbus were weekend guests of Lyle Dornburgh. Joe Ehn and Hilmer Jones hosted Tuesday afternoon visits. Merton Flodman and Chad of Osceola visited Carroll Flodman on Tuesday evening.
