Engagement announced for Jeanette Larson and Max McLean

Mr and Mrs Lawrence Larson of Stromsburg announce the engagement of their daughter Jeanette to Max McLean, son of Mr and Mrs Jim McLean of Benedict. Jeanette, a 1973 Stromsburg High School graduate, attends the University of Nebraska for an Associate Degree in Secretarial Work this spring and works in the University of Nebraska Department of Architecture. Max, a 1973 Benedict High School graduate and 1975 graduate of Curtis Nebraska’s University School of Technical Agriculture, farms near Benedict. The couple plans a May 29 wedding.

Polk County Urges Move On Dr Ong

The Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital hosted Dr Seong Ong and his wife Ann as they presented credentials and explained he will be Board Eligible in Internal Medicine after residency at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn. They cited his U S Air Force Hospital service in the Philippines and training at Yar Eastern University Manila. The hospital board chairman welcomed the couple and praised Polk County as stable, rural with good facilities and progressive residents. The Ongs flew back to New York City Saturday thanking Polk County for its hospitality.

Polk Cub Scout Pack 163 donated two clocks a kitchen and main room a 100 cup coffee maker and an electric roaster to Polk Community Hall Funds from bake sales calendar sales and other projects supported the gift Pack leaders Louise Logston Anita Norquest and cubmaster Jim Simdorn led 14 pack members including Eddie Coover Brian Jones Darwin Love and more The Polk Woman's Club plans a bake sale bingo and cards event Monday February 16 at 7 p.m. to raise funds for the Community Hall Fund and to buy an electric range for the kitchen More details next week

Golden Wedding Anniversary Noted For Mr and Mrs Shostrom

Mr and Mrs Robert Shostrom observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday February 1 1976 with an open house at Polk Community Hall attended by 225 guests. Family hosted events included readings poems and music by relatives and a post reception dinner for family. The couple married January 26 1926 at the Stromsburg First Baptist Church parsonage in Nebraska.
