Herman Anderson Named Polk County Census Enumerator
Herman A. Anderson of Osceola is appointed enumerate for Polk County Census with duties starting January 2, 1940. The scope covers manufacturing, retail and wholesale trades, services, amusements, hotels, construction, and more. Enumerators swear to confidentiality. data used only for national resource statistics. Vivian Dornburgh wed Vernon Knerr in Stromsburg ceremony at the Methodist parsonage. Nebraskans especially children welcomed a heavy snow that began Saturday morning and left a four inch mantle by Saturday evening. Snow continued to fall through the day and again Tuesday morning, inspiring widespread enthusiasm despite earlier doubts of a White Christmas.
Birthday party honors Katherine Nelson on 8th birthday
A group of 16 children and their mothers gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Nelson to celebrate Katherine Nelson's eighth birthday on December 25. Horstman Family Involved In Central City Crash
Mr and Mrs Henry Horstman escaped serious injury when their car collided with a vehicle owned by Mr and Mrs Forrest Rose near Central City three miles west. Dense smoke from a passing train blinded drivers. Mrs Horstman suffered a deep cut above the eye and head injuries but is recovering after treatment in Central City.
