Holy Communion times shift with a new schedule starting Sunday September 3. Church School begins September 17 at 9 45 a.m. A joint worship and pot luck at Zion Benedict replaces Trinity service on that date with service at 10 00 a.m.
Verna Spoor hosted the Friendship Birthday Club with Beulah Widga assisting on Wednesday. Members Grace Harless Anna Rau Alice Jones Emma Anderson Lillie Lind and Margaret Lott attended. Visitors Frances Widga Gail and Mary Jo Widga joined for a carry-in lunch.
Mr and Mrs Chauncey Gustafson hosted Sunday guests Mrs Edith Benson with Mr and Mrs Ewart Klingsporn visiting in the Gustafson home. The Gustafsons and Debra joined Clyde Travis of Fullerton for Colorado weekend trips while the Travis party visited Pueblo.

The Polk A Dots girls softball team won 11 games and the Class C championship at a Lincoln invitational. Pork Bean Days are planned for September 7 and 8 with a full program. Nearly 100 guests attended a reception for Deland Flodman at Polk Community Hall. Funeral services were held for Mrs Henry Thelander and L D Huston. Mr and Mrs Edwin Swanson and son John visited Hennie Seymour. A E Swanson and Mrs A E Swanson were in town.

Swede Plain United Methodist WSCS to hold a bake sale on Bean Days Saturday September 2 at 9 30 am at the Kansas Nebraska Gas Co Office. Holdrege visitors dined with Mrs Hilmer Jones and Arlo Stevens hosted guests in the Glen Hill home.
Mr and Mrs Fred W Bedient with Al fretta Bruce and Mr and Mrs Ed Beckner and family enjoyed a picnic at the National Forest near Halsey. Meanwhile Mr and Mrs Lyle Dornburgh Fredrick Linda and Joe Fisher joined Mr and Mrs Arlo Ewert for Sunday dinner in Columbus.
