Committee Number Two of the Woman's Club entertained the Club and their better halves at the J W Morgan home last Friday evening. A fine attendance enjoyed Sam'set then a late hour luncheon. Members noted men would like by law changes permitting monthly male attendance.

Brilliant Close of the Season with Debating and Basketball Wins

The High School teams closed the season last Friday night with notable wins. The debating squad defeated Humboldt by unanimous decision while the basketball team routed Gowrie in a strong showing. A new Humboldt-bound debating squad also fared well in Humboldt. The season’s records suggest winning campaigns next year for both teams.

Laurens Woman's Club hears Ireland program and study notes

The Laurens Woman's Club met at Mrs. Southworth's home on March 12 with vice president Mrs. Vance presiding. Members shared humor and heard Irish readings, papers on Ireland, Emerald Isle scenery, and a summer Ireland visit, followed by current events. The Thursday Study Club met March 18 with talks on women musicians, the American public school system, and school-system criticisms, ending with a buffet lunch and musical performances.

Missing Emmetsburg teen vanishes after Thursday absence

Morris Powers, a 16 year old boy from Emmetsburg with Sigourney ties, failed to return to school or home after Thursday afternoon. About five feet tall and 125 pounds, he has black hair and freckles, wore a dark blue serge suit, knee pants, plain mackinaw and plaid cap. Report any information to Sheriff Cullen.

Barred Boarder in Pocahontas Feud Ends in Pepper Fight

Rob Barrett of Fonda, a star boarder at Barney's boarding shack, tangled with the landlord's husband over a local affair. The tiler struck first with red pepper, Barrett was jailed for 30 days in the county jail.

Death of Mrs. W. W. Collier at Laurens Area

Alma J. Mills Collier died last Thursday at her home northwest of Laurens after a brief pneumonia illness. She was born in Alta in December and aged thirty nine. Survived by husband Will Collier four children and her Mills relatives including Howard Mills. Funeral services held at home and at Alta with Rev Jones of Knoxville. remains shipped to Alta for interment.

Opening a Success at Ludwig Johnsons House

Opening a Success. Ludwig Johnsons House warm ing and Implement opening last Fri day and Saturday was a great succ ess. There were good crowds both days. On the afternoon of Satur day, Rev. Gerkin and F. K. Hawley made addresses. There was a good display of seed corn and the follow ing were the prize winners: First, Olin Young. Second, Robi. Fullerton. Third, T. J. Lund. The Horse Clippers were won by E. L. Blomgren, the Corn Grader by G. J. Peterson and the Feed Grinder by John Schutz.

Pasadena visitor Allen checks in for weekend business

Cc. 8. Allen arrived Saturday from Pasadena California to tend to business. He appears in good health and suggests Southern California agrees with him. M. M. Weis of Mallard stayed in town over Sunday visiting his brother in law F. G. Brothers and family and others while handling affairs.
