Time hinges on a reported incident as Agent Hakes summoned official help. Before City Marshall Carey arrived, the dog was lured from the waiting room and led away along the track, apparently seeking safety.
Dr Hovenden took an auto trip to Ft Dodge on Monday. O M Littlejohn sold his auto to James Speers of Havelock. Miss Bruner of Cedar Rapids, a Fonda teacher, visits the Wheeler home. Mrs Montague Hakes returns from Chicago and J R Hakes family. Bruett sold two new Fords to Andrew Smith and Emery Kirby of Havelock. P E Fagan trip to Minneapolis for business and pleasure. Mrs Gus Miller and Mrs Chas of Moline visit here. Mrs Wheeler visits Ft Dodge with L W Wheeler. Mrs L W Wheeler’s daughters visit. Mrs J A Ryan and granddaughter Eleanor Craig arrive from Oakes, ND. McAfee’s new garage almost complete with roof, windows, and cement floor. one of the nicest in the region.
Fannie Belle Kauffman, born December 4 1892 near Storm Lake, died June 21 1914 in Laurens at 21 age 22 years 6 months and 19 days. She married Leslie V Alexander January 10 1912 and had one child who died before her. Funeral held at Christian Church with Rev Henry officiating. interment Laurens cemetery. Her husband, parents, two sisters Mrs Frank Steel and Mrs Leo Jones and three brothers John Heary Joseph Franklin William Ernest survive. The couple planned to live in the east after a brief stay in Laurens.
Horace Eugene Patterson and Edith Caroline Barnhart wed Wednesday evening at the bride's parents home in Laurens. The ceremony was by George Henry of the Christian Church. A wedding supper followed and only close relatives and three guests attended. Miss Barnhart has lived in Laurens most of her life apart from five years at Eagle Grove.
A baseball meeting will be held Friday night to organize a club. The team has won 6 of 8 games and has used no hired players, with all members contributing.
The stores will close Saturday July 4 for the holiday. General stores will stay open until 10 30 Friday night to handle Friday and Sunday trade and remind shoppers to do their trading then.
A large yellow dog roams the Milwaukee depot area in Storm Lake and occupies the men’s waiting room while the agent and helpers are at dinner. Agent Hakes returns to find the dog blocking the doorway to ticket buyers and seeks help from a caboose. Brakeman Mike Hallet offers to intervene with an iron spike puller but withdraws after seeing the dog.
Last Sunday night a close call at Albert Oberlin's home ended with a bedroom fire in the hired man's quarters. He slept briefly on the porch due to warmth, then the couple extinguished flames that had burned bedding clothing and damaged woodwork before they could spread further.

It notes next Friday's YPSCE entertainment at the church with playette program and free ice cream. The Longville and related farms are named along with church activities, mission offerings, and upcoming services.
