The official board lists nominees for Swan Lake, Marshall and Cummins townships. Swan Lake nominates for Republican Justice of Peace B L Saum and others, with Democrat Justice J B Bunker among only partially listed names. Marshall shows no nominations in the report. Cummins lists L Hubbard Fred Hacker and others.
County Republican convention held in Pocahontas with J. M. Berry as chairman and A. G. Obrecht as secretary. Resolutions backed state and county tickets and John Ford for state Auditor. Dr J W Starr nominated for coroner completing the county ticket. speeches by J H Allen and Robt Bruce. Delegates chosen for the state convention. Bull Moosers meet in Supervisors room.
Court room meeting selects delegates to the state convention and approves a county ticket. J B Bunker is named Clerk of Court and Dr J M Carroll becomes coroner. A double delegation is named due to high attendance. County Central Committee elects Geo Steinhilber as chairman and J J Kelleher as secretary. A Georgia town supports saloons with a citizen blaming skirts and dances for moral decline.

Perry Luke, a drag team driver for C. J. Mitchell, survived a serious accident when his wagon was struck by an M. & St. L. train near the Shu maker place crossing. He had just finished unloading tiles, looked for a train, and, assuming none, crossed. The wagon split in half, Luke was hurled into a ditch but sustained only minor bruises. Spectators saw a wheel rim and tire fly about thirty feet. The horses were unaffected in the report.
A wagon advance on the town street was halted without incident as the front of the wagon led the way toward a crossing noted for poor visibility. A train approaching cannot be seen until nearly upon the crossing, creating a hazardous area for travelers.
Dr. Frank Crane extols Iowa as the most American state praising its plain folks and chautauqua culture. He cites Iowa farm values and outputs including vast land values, corn production, cattle and poultry wealth, butter production, and per capita wealth to argue Iowa’s economic and social standing.
Weather postponed last week event at the church now set for tomorrow night July 8 at 8 o'clock. Program includes a playette recitations instrumental and vocal selections. George Benna, after losing his driving team, reports two more valuable draft horses dead from slow poising.
