School Course Adds Public Speaking and Domestic Science
The High School will strengthen its program with a Public Speaking class under Mr. Pitkin and introduce Manual Training in the Junior year. Junior girls may take Domestic Science for credit and have full study periods. A Domestic Science class may be organized for Seniors later. The new plan aligns with State Department requirements for seventh and eighth grades. All high school pupils must register September 8 at the Superintendent’s office. Par ents are reminded primary entrants must start in Fall. Grades One and Two begin in new Masonic Hall.

Threshing accident injures Chas Jarville near Trimble
While assisting with threshing at James Trimble farm last Saturday afternoon Charles Jarville fell from a wagon while unloading bundles. The team bolted, he was dragged under the tongue, sustaining a broken rib and a cracked rib with internal injuries. The wagon upset. neither the wagon nor team were badly damaged.

Farmers Unite for New Threshing Outfit Purchase
Ten Swan Lake area farmers formed a cooperative to buy a threshing outfit. W G Runyan C G Wright and H H Sample drove to Des Moines last week to complete the purchase. The machine arrived and was unloaded Saturday, promising a timely harvest season. The Joint Drainage ditch crew north of Charles Coldren’s faced a fighting incident last Friday with one man badly injured. An Emmiesburg sheriff call sparked a wild story of a shooting incident added to the rumor.

Ringling Bros Show Draws Large Spencer Crowd
The town and surrounding country sent a large delegation to Ringling Bros at Spencer yesterday. Roads were good, weather ideal, and about 20,000 people were under the big tent in the afternoon. C. A. Carlson visited Mo Line, Illinois, over Sunday with sister Gusta and returned Tuesday with Mrs. Carlson and family.
