Seventy two students at Pleasant Grove High School have applied for graduation this year. A banquet and a detailed commencement program are being planned by the senior class. Trail Builder Marble Tournament In Manila Word Grounds

The big annual stake Trail Builder marble tournament will be held at the Manila word grounds May aye Mihi at 00 p m. Each ward will tay fumish shint and a regular wee juiy le tokst will be enjoyed after the jy WUITament. Winners from each ward will compete with other word champions to crown the stake champion. Prizes will be piveli $6 the winners. Timp Stake Relief Society Conference Observed

Stake and ward officers met in an officers meeting at 10 00 a m in the Second Ward Relief Society room conducted by Stake President Elle M Cragin. Over 165 officers and members attended the afternoon session with talks on tithing Sabbath observance and union meetings.

Bee Hive Jamboree Planned for Timpanogos Stake

All plans are completed for the Bee Hive Jamboree to be held Saturday evening at the mouth of Battle Creek. A bonfire party and program will be provided. All Bee Hive girls and their leaders are expected to attend.

Band Demonstration Delights Provo Audience

The High School Band gave a varied program Wednesday night in the high school building. Vocal and instrumental numbers pleased a large crowd. Directors Earl A. Beck and Ford Poulson led the performers in blue sweaters and white shirts. The group traveled to Provo for a state music carnival Thursday through Saturday.

Genealogical Classes Entertain Ward Society Members

The senior and junior classes of the Third ward Genealogical Society met for a closing social Tuesday. The junior class arranged songs and games while seniors served refreshments. About 40 attended. the year of study ended successfully with steady attendance.

Fire Hits Building and Stable Near Geneva

Fire of unknown origin destroyed a small building and a stable on the road east of Geneva Monday morning. Report says the 5:00 a.m. call came too late amid dry material and poor water supply. The former occupant Vern Powell had vacated the house the day before. Firemen also fought a park fence blaze Friday at noon caused by boys with matches. damage was slight.

Stake Dispens es Sacrament Meetings for Concert at High School

All wards of the stake suspend sacrament meetings Sunday night to attend an 8:00 PM concert at the High School. The stake Primary Union meeting is cancelled for Mother's Day. A district meeting for ward Primary officers and teachers was held Wednesday at the Third ward chapel with light refreshments. Many Primaries held closing exercises Tuesday afternoon.

Mother's Day Program Preparations Across Wards

All wards prepare Mother's Day services for Sunday morning. Sunday School superintendents invite mothers to attend. Windsor ward hosts a Sunday night M. I. A. meeting with Hzra Walker speaker, talk on Tithing by W. Ramel Cragun, and musical numbers by M. W. Vernon of Sharon Stake.

The program features preliminary music opening song invocation sacrament exercises two 2.5 minute talks vocal solo by Eugene Lee tribute to mothers by Wilburn Bull of Lehi response by Mrs J M Macfarlane trumpet duet by Jack Gardiner and William West presenting flowers to mothers closing song benediction and congregation.

Orchestra Ensemble Presents Sunday Evening Concert

An district wide four orchestra ensemble from Lehi American Folk Lincoln and Pleasant Grove will perform at Lincoln High School at 7:00 p.m. Sunday May 9, then proceed to the high school for a one hour program. Adults in Pleasant Grove invited and ward meetings suspended to attend.

City council discusses cleanup day and bids on library grounds pipe sale. J Senford Walker to check sprinkling system cost for park grounds. Duane Harper to oversee pipe sale. Chamber of Commerce seeks to repair old city hall for rooms. further study planned with city officials.

High School Officers Elected and School Event Planned

The high school elected Virgil Walker as president Merilyn Richards as vice president and Iona Adams as secretary for the coming year A Victory matinee dance is scheduled this afternoon at one high school Sixty nine children were examined during the Pleas ant Grove preschool roundup on April 29 all were immunized for diphtheria and smallpox Main defects included diseased tonsils cavities teeth and poor nutrition A second diphtheria vaccination clinic is set for May 11 at 9 am in the titling office.

Largest class to graduate from local high school in years

Ten Years Ago Now notes that 47 seniors will receive diplomas at graduation around May 10. The high school band of about 35 performed on a concert tour visiting Springville Spanish Fork and Nephi, returning for a dance at the Arrowhead pool near Payson. Seminary work grows with 41 of 47 high school graduates doing seminary study. Graduation exercises set for May 28 at the tabernacle.

Mrs Wesley Beck Visits Veteran Hospital Patient

Mrs Wesley Beck and Miss Ardena Atwood visited Sunday with Mr Wesley Beck at the Veterans hospital in Salt Lake. Wesley is receiving medical care and has been at the hospital two weeks. He expects to be there about two more weeks.
