Members of Pleasant Grove's Auxiliary Police wear new uniforms purchased by individual members. They will be on duty around the clock during the Strawberry Days celebration and rodeo, assisting city police and providing standby ambulance service during all three nights.

Purple Heart Awarded to Pt Grove Soldier

Sgt. Norman Deveraux of the Army Airborne in Vietnam was awarded the Purple Heart on June 4, 1989 for combat wounds in Vietnam. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ray Deveraux of Pleasant Grove. The family received the medal and a letter with brief wound details.

Curtis L Smith Enlists in U S Air Force

Curtis L Smith of Lindon has enlisted in the U S Air Force and left Friday for Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio Texas to begin basic training. He is a 1968 Pleasant Grove High School graduate and has just completed a year at Utah Trade Tech in Provo.

Strawberry Days Recalled In Pleasant Grove Past Celebrations

The 1922 Pleasant Grove Strawberry Day parade and festivities are recounted from the Pleasant Grove Review file. The Wasatch Club hosted a 14 float parade Visions of Pleasant Grove with a Wild West show bought with notes from officers. Attendance neared 12 000 with free strawberries and 1 000 cases donated by growers.

D. Douglas Kohler Receives M.D. From University

Mr and Mrs Arvil Wadley announce their son in law D Douglas Kohler has earned the Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine at the recent commencement. A Logan Utah native he is a son of Darrell Kohler and a graduate of South Cache High School and Utah State University. He served a LDS mission in Austria, married Suzanne Wadley and has a one year old son. He will complete an internship at University of Utah Hospital followed by a surgery residency.

Flower Show at Strawberry Days Opens With Theme Visions of the Future

The 1969 Strawberry Days Flower Show hosted by the Pleasant Grove Garden Club features the theme Visions of the Future Memories of the Past. Judging begins at 10 a.m. with public viewing 1 to 8 30 p.m. Thursday. Awards include Sweepstakes Creative Award and Distinction for dried materials. Junior division honors await horticulture and artistic design winners with ribbons for top placements.

Funeral notices for Sp-4 Henson Walker killed in Vietnam

Sp-4 Henson Walker 24 of Lindon was killed on active duty in Vietnam while serving in the 196th Light Infantry Brigade near Chu Lia. Born Sept. 11, 1945, in American Fork, he was a Pleasant Grove High School graduate and later attended Utah Technical College and BYU. Funeral services are pending with Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.

Strawberry Days Royalty Visit Governor and Church Leaders

Strawberry Days royalty met Governor Calvin Rampton in Salt Lake City where a June 19 2021 declaration was signed designating Utah Strawberry Days. They also met LDS Church President David O McKay and President Alvin R Dyer and discussed publicity plans. The visit included TV and radio appearances and meetings with Utah officials.

Pioneer Museum Opens for Strawberry Days Events

The Pioneer Museum and Log Cabin will host public tours on Strawberry Day June 19 with Daughters of Utah Pioneers guiding between 11 am 1 pm and 4 pm 6 pm. Visitors learn about Pleasant Grove and the two buildings during the event in Pleasant Grove.
