Scouts Mark 20th Anniversary with Massive Bonfire Display
For the 20th anniversary of scouting in the L D S church Manila scouts and vanguards staged a large cone shaped bonfire on the schoolhouse hill. Under Scoutmasters Glenn Iverson and Alex Wadley and Vanguard leader Warrick Swenson they built a 200 by 400 foot flame sculpture that lit up the mountain side. A salute of 20 charges of powder and torches in 62 oil cans illuminated a giant letter seen from nearby towns.
