Public swimming begins today at Pleasant Grove Pool with daily sessions 2 30 pm on weekdays and 1 pm Saturdays. Lessons run 9 am to 2 15 pm with options Monday Wednesday Friday or Tuesday Thursday weekly. Registration every weekday 9 am at the pool office and Saturdays at 1 pm. Pleasant Grove Class of 1927 Golden Reunion Held May 27

The Pleasant Grove High School class of 1927 held a Golden reunion at The Bungalow on May 27 with seventy two attendees including six teachers and five partners of teachers as special guests. Members travelled from Texas California Nevada Washington and Utah cities. tributes and songs were performed a commemorative book with graduation photo was given to each guest and Owen D West received a special award for fifty years of reunion promotion.

Beveridge Wins Excellence Award for Joe Panther

Stewart Beveridge of Salem Salt Lake City based Artists Creation Associates receives an excellence award from Film Advisory Board president Elayne Blythe for producing the G rated family film Joe Panther. The Florida shot movie stars Brian Keith Ricardo Montalban and Ray Tracey. The board, which previews 300 films yearly, notes the film’s wildlife scenes including a dramatic alligator fight and confirms American Humane Association approval. Beveridge is a Pleasant Grove native.

Summer school begins at Utah Tech Provo with dental aiding

Summer session at Utah Technical College at Provo opens June 14 featuring a year round dental assisting class for the first time in summer quarter. Sixteen openings remain, with formal registration on June 13 and inquiries at the Prowse campus. Other offerings include auto maintenance diesel work cabinet making track driving and secretarial training. The dental assisting program runs through three quarters to completion without interruption.

Geneva Employees Honored for 25 Years at U.S. Steel Luncheon

Ninety eight Geneva Works employees were honored for 25 years or more of continuous service with U.S. Steel at a Riverside Country Club luncheon. Hersh urged that veteran workers’ skill and dedication are a top asset for Utah’s steel industry in western markets. One man, Lawrence F. Butler of Provo, received a 35 year award. Utah Adjusts State Tax Withholding Rate to 24 Percent

Utah State Tax Commissioner Eleanor Lee Brennan announced a June 1 1977 change in withholding. Employers using the percentage method will raise state withholding from 22 to 24 percent of federal withholding to align prepayment with federal amounts, with no net change in ultimate state liability.
