Pleasant Grove merchants plan a three day Memorial Day sale this Thursday through Saturday. The group invites Pleasant Grove citizens to support local businesses as they host multiple sales during the weekend.
Grace McNaughton Winn retires after thirty years in Alpine School District. Born in Heber Utah she worked in Lindon Pleasant Grove Junior and Senior Highs ending a long career feeding district children. Widowed Alfred Winn father to Boyd and LuAnn and grandparent to eight, she is praised as hardworking pleasant and thoughtful.
Gordon Turner son of Nelson and Melba Turner has been called to the mission field by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will depart to the Califor nia Fresno Mission on June 11 after a farewell on Sunday May 29 at 5 p.m. in the Manila Second Ward. Michael Ivan Walker son of Ivan and Mrs Walker of Lindon has been called to the Milan Italy field of labor as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints A farewell is set for Sunday May 29 at 4 p m in Lindon third Ward He will enter the mission home on June 2 then proceed to the Language Training Mission to learn Italian before his field of labor Ivan Walker is a LDS Seminary graduate.
Central Elementary PTA named officers for the 1977 78 year Bonnie Newman will be president Pauline Carter vice president Jody Sirkel secretary and treasurer Newman a longtime PTA member and LDS Church worker moved to Pleasant Grove with three children and edits the word paper Carter born in Springville has four children and five grandchildren while active on the Central PTA board Sirkel born in Pleasant Grove has four children and enjoys sewing and swimming
Senior students at Pleasant Grove High School announced by Principal John P. Gourley will graduate Friday at 7 30 p m in the high school gym. The program lists graduates from BYU Utah Tech College Utah State University University of Utah and other institutions with numerous named students and scholarships across a long list of graduates and affiliations.
Clifton Grindstaff, son of Philip L and Vivian Grindstaff, earned the Bronze Good Citizenship medal from the Sons of the American Revolution for outstanding character and leadership. A Pleasant Grove High School senior, he played Vikings football, is an Eagle Scout, and planned to attend the University of Utah to study accounting.
