Final Tribute Paid Saturday To Ethel Driggs Brinley

Final tribute of love and respect was paid Saturday afternoon at 1 p m to the memory of Mrs Ethel Driggs Brinley who died last Monday at her home on Second North street With Bishop Nell Fugal of the Third ward in charge the impressive service began with a ladies trio and a call to devotion by John Williams First speaker Ernest P Smith of the Second ward bishopric spoke of God giving us intelligence and life as a school to develop gifts B H Adams praised the Brinley family and urged that real wealth be measured by worthy things Music included In the Garden a solo by Mrs Hardman Mrs Beers and Mrs Fairlock with Mrs Neves on organ Prelude and postlude were played A closing number Face to Face was sung by Mrs Vance West and her daughter Anne Benediction given by Baryl Huish Interment in Pleasant Grove City cemetery graveside prayer by Joseph S Walker Pallbearers Norval Driggs Forrest Driggs Carrol Waters Lawrence Walker Guy Hillman and Victor Bronson Surviving are three sons Harold Brinley Las Vegas Nevada Eldon Brinley Kingsville Texas and Ross Brinley Pleasant Grove a brother Burlin Driggs Pleasant Grove six grandchildren and one great grandchild)

Minstrel Show at Scera Saturday Impresses Local Audience

The Seventies Minstrel Show played at Scera in Orem to a full fourth crowd, after earlier performances in Pleasant Grove and American Park. Credit goes to director Ro West, music director Inv in Jensen, pianist RW Brimbal, and GM John Fugal, with standout numbers from a Salt Lake City male quartet and soloists Warren Kirk, Lynell Johnson, Owen Whitehead, Little Bailey, Mrs Bailey, Jean Pagal, Ed Dankler, and a 34-voice choir.

Services Held Monday for Hettie Mathews

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 pm in the Third ward for Hettie Mathews 71 who died Wednesday at home. Bishop Neil Figal led the rites with prayers, solos, and talks praising Mrs Mathews and her family. Interment followed at Lehi cemetery with president Lewis Olpin offering the dedicatory prayer.

Golden Wedding Observed By Moroni Olsen

Moroni and Mrs. Olsen of Pleasant Grove marked their golden wedding with a 2 to 8 open house at home for friends and relatives. She was the first white girl born on Provo Beach now Orem and taught in a one room log schoolhouse. He spent early years in Park City and has worked in railroads construction farming and blacksmithing. Married December 22 1898 they have eight living children and twenty six grandchildren with four great grandchildren.

Timpanogos Stake hoopmen opened Thursday play with three games. First ward beat Manila 36 17, Grove ward won 56 37 over Second ward, and Third defeated Linton 42 32 in a close finish.
