Main Street workers prepare for a Christmas lighting event this Saturday with Santa Claus visiting city halls, wards, clubs, and schools in the afternoon. The celebration includes a tree lighting, candy for youngsters, and a city hall appearance at 1 pm on December 23.

Funeral Rites For Owen Thornton Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Owen B Thornton were held Tuesday at 1 pm in the American Fork First Ward chapel following a life spent in American Fork. Born November 14 1885 to Oliver and Emerette Phillips Thornton he married Alice Peterson in 1909 and worked at the Trenton Steel Plant. Survivors include his widow two sons four daughters a brother four sisters and several in laws and grandchildren. Attending included Mr and Mrs William J Peterson and other local residents.

Sewer Project Aims At Pleasant Grove Growth

Citizens are urged to vote on three propositions funding a city sewer system with bonds totaling 215000 and 95000. The plan includes monthly charges of 2.00 for serviced properties, a 150 dollar connection fee, and lines to be installed to property lines. City officials stress cost fairness and long term benefits for homes, schools, and local industry.

State Health Board Sees Definite Need For Sewer

The State Board of Health urges approval of a general obligation sewer bond in Pleasant Grove to fund a citywide system. It notes 70 plus clogged septic tanks and calls for a 30 year bond with a tax levy not exceeding 4 mills, arguing $4 a year per $1000 assessed value suffices for health and sanitation.

Funeral Services Held For John Campbell

John Campbell, born January 12 1876 in Jefferson Ohio, died of natural causes at an American Park hospital. Former electrical engineer, he worked for Evasion Power Co in Evanston Wyoming and Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. later joined General Electric Co in Provo. He retired to Poulley farming in Orem and moved to San Mateo California in 1995. Survived by widow Pinasant Grove, two sons Henry Campbell and Chelsea Campbell, three daughters Dora Raxdice Carol Parra and Justice Stratmelr, and many grandchildren. Funeral held with tributes to his long service and hobbies including aviation.
