The Burlington shops in Plattsmouth employ about 500 men and turn out vast daily work. Workers in the coach, painter, machine and blacksmith, brass foundry, buffet, steel car, and freight car repair areas keep cars ready for service, with Sunday overtime and extensive supply operations.

John Wiedeman was attacked in his Greenwood drug store by George Spike Burke and a second assailant. Burke was arrested west of town but escaped from the marshal before midnight.
