The county board accepted the new jail from the contractor and will move Sheriff G P Quinton into the dwelling portion to supervise prisoners. The steel, covered building is designed to deter escapes and save money by keeping inmates in the county, eliminating prior need to transfer prisoners elsewhere.
Henry Meyer and Louis Davis of Louisville were charged with intoxication and mental unfitness. After hearing evidence, the board ruled they were fit for treatment and to be sent to Lincoln State Hospital for care.
Large attendance reported at Elmwood for a Democratic county central committee session. L F Lanchorst presided as members and candidates discussed preparations for November elections and hopeful campaign optimism.
York the barber acted quickly when a waste paper basket near his shop caught fire from a stray match. He ran outside and hurled the burning basket away to prevent property damage. No injuries or property damage occurred, though the barber’s clothes risked scorching in the blaze.

Last Sunday on the Mississippi near the Burlington bridge two Union church members were immersed in the river as Rev Boulton led a baptism service. About two hundred people attended with many outsiders drawn to the waterfront ceremony. The practice recalls earlier years when river baptisms were common. the church congregation spans the river with Nebraskan neighbors also attending weekly.
The farm of Charles Neves near Louisville was struck by lightning during a storm and a large barn burned to the ground. About 2,000 bushels of oats, several bushels of wheat and other goods were lost, with some horses saved by the family and helpers. The loss runs into thousands. partial insurance was reported.
RB B Danniber returned home from Chicago on No 4 after attending the funeral of his sister Mrs JD Evans at St Pius Church. The interment was in Mt Carmel cemetery following her death after an accident in her home and a rapid decline.

Mrs J M Young, ill for weeks, underwent an operation in Rockville Me last Saturday. Reports from W P Palmer say the procedure was successful and she is recovering well. Relatives and friends in the city are glad to hear she is progressing and hope for a speedy return home.
The Republican County Central Committee met at Murdock last Friday to organize the campaign for the open seat. Lin. BE. Geek of Mattreurth was named chairman with Dr. O. FE. Lester of Blaywent as secretary and Fred Moenchau of Eveie as treasurer. An executive committee including CUE, Telfi, Doli Adams, EL Nowes, John Reasoner and Winifred Swan was formed to guide campaign actions and coordinate with the direction of the party. The group plans to file vacancies created by the withdrawal of Gmintly Attorney G. H. Taylor and mentions Tex county Judge J. FE. Douglass and Attorney A. Js. Core as candidates for reelection or entry.
A large crowd hosted by Mr and Mrs Wall Becker surprised Miss Viola Becker for her twentieth birthday party at the Becker home. Harry Horn planned the event. guests arrived after a car ride ploy and enjoyed games and a luncheon on the Becker lawn.
Mrs Letitia I Burton receives an account from Eva Belville of Knoxville Iowa formerly Eva Sherman about the European war. The Belvilles traveled from Paris to Havre aboard a ship halted by German fleets and reached the U S after a ten day crossing. A Red Cross concert aboard raised about 3300 for wounded French.
Rev F M Druliner and his son Tracy were en route to Immanuel hospital in Omaha where Tracy will undergo an appendicitis operation after a severe attack. Surgeons were doubtful of recovery and summoned his mother as the case grew more acute.
Mrs F M Druliner was a passenger this afternoon for Omaha where she goes to be at the bedside of her son Traty, who is to be operated on for appendicitis today.
Mrs. D. Hawksworth was a passenger this morning for Lincoln where she will visit relatives for a short time in that city.
John Brady and his wife are visiting Manchester Ohio and staying with old friends in their childhood home. The Signal notes the couple’s return after years away and their enjoyment of the Ohio visit in the town of about 2000 residents.
Former Olson Photograph company employees enjoyed a Sunday picnic on the Old Missouri River banks near the Burlington bridge. The gathering featured a lunch, games, river rides aboard Captain Paul Wohlfarth’s gasoline launch Viking, and rekindled old times. Attendees included L. D. Hiatt and Mrs Hiatt Murray, Nettie Moore, Jessie Moore, Theresa Kelley, Anna Wohlfarth, Clara Wohlfarth, Lee McCarthy, Frank Downey, and Paul Wohlfarth.
John F. Wehrbein won a 795 dollar judgment against Fred Hirz and Orville Kintz in county court for damages from a frame garage fire on his farm west of the city. The court ruled the amount covers the full loss. potential appeal to district court was not determined.
Among yesterday's Lincoln marriage licenses a Cass county young lady Miss Lula Opp of Nebhawka married William Black of Nebraska City in Lincoln. Miss Opp is well known in southern parts of the county where she has lived for years.
Mrs 0 GC Dovey and her daughter Claire traveled to Omaha for a day visit with friends, riding to the city this morning and planning to spend time there.
Mrs McColl travels to the metropolis today for a day visit with friends. The outing includes planned contact with several acquaintances and leisure time in the city.

A committee will sell tickets and distribute profits, while managers across the county are being contacted to arrange game dates. Local boosters urged public support and ticket purchases to ensure a successful event.
The funeral for Mrs. L. C. Anderson was held Sunday from her South Eighth Street home. A large crowd attended as the Daughters of Rebekah and neighbors paid tribute to a long trusted friend and neighbor. The service by the First Presbyterian church offered comfort to mourners before the interment at Oak Hill cemetery beside her husband who died three years earlier.
