Fricke Couple Celebrates Golden Fiftieth Anniversary
On Sunday September 4 community figures Mr and Mrs F G Fricke marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a family gathering at the North Sixth Street home. The event featured a wedding dinner and place cards made from tiny wedding-day photos. Born in Germany and Hanover Emma Niemeyer Fricke, the couple married in Williamsport Pennsylvania Sept 4 1871 before moving west. Their six children and six grandchildren attended along with numerous relatives from Ashland Plattsmouth Omaha and Kansas City.

Former resident of this city, Mrs. F. E. Smith, long-time manager wife of Mr. Smith at Nebraska Gas and Electric, died at Presbyterian hospital in Omaha after years of poor health and multiple surgeries. Body to Council Bluffs then Carson Iowa for burial. funeral tomorrow. Survived by husband two young daughters and her Carson parents.

Box Car Assault Near Payne Junction Shocks Iowa
Early Sunday two travelers from Pacific Junction were savagely beaten in a box car near Payne Junction across the river from Nebraska City. Charles Hicks of Omaha and Ada Jones of St Joseph were injured. Hicks severely. Police have no suspects. Burlington officials arranged medical care at St Catherine's hospital in Omaha.
