William Keif was surprised at the Eagles hall on his fifty first birthday. Mrs. Keir and daughters organized the event with cards dancing and refreshments. Attendees included Walter Victor Henry Hintz man Lester Burrows Don Lynch Ed Gobelman Glen Morse John Meisinger Jr. and many others from the local community.
Dean Snyder William Nelson of this city and Otto Soennichsen of Chicago left yesterday for a hiking trip toward Yellowstone park their aim if weather holds. The trio plans to hike and seek short paid work along the way hoping for rides from travelers to speed their journey to the great mountains.

J. C. Fisher of Salem Iowa, former owner of a downtown Plattsmouth drug store, returned for a brief stopover. He recalled his early years here and visited Mrs. E. W. Cook, widow of his cousin, and other longtime residents before continuing to eastern Iowa.
Gale Connors of Omaha son in law of Mrs Lena Droege sustained a painful hand injury while near electric machinery at Roberts Dairy. Top of the little finger and parts of the third and fourth fingers were damaged requiring hospital treatment. Connors remained mobile despite layoff and visited Mrs Droege with his wife and son Duane.
The case of Mable Coolman versus Theodore L. Amick ended with a verdict for the defendant T L Amick. The suit sought to set aside a deed from Ruth Amick conveying a Rock Bluff precinct farm to her son. Witnesses and top Omaha lawyers figured prominently in the lengthy trial.
The Dc L Wiles family returned home from a nearly 2000 mile auto trip visiting Brule Nebraska with Earle V Cole and Carl R Cole. They drove to Cheyenne Estes Park Denver Lookout Mountain and Lookout Mountain Capt Cody's grave then on to Boulder Fort Morgan and Sterling before returning home.
Mrs. C. A. Wosencrans is reappointed executive committeewoman for the First District and named delegate to the national convention in San Antonio. Mrs. F. R. Gobelman becomes state historian after serving as publicity chairman and state vice president. Both have led the Plattsmouth Auxiliary unit with strong work and booster effort.
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Lohnes and children Robert and Edward of Chicago return home after a three month auto tour visiting national parks from the Petrified Forest to Yosemite and Yellowstone. They journeyed through Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Canada and back to Plattsmouth and Chicago.
Wade Windham former resident and son of the late Robert B. Windham is gravely ill in a Lincoln hospital after an appendicitis rupture. He was taken ill last Thursday, operated on, and the infection spread. physicians report little hope of recovery. Mrs Windham has been visiting her parents on the Pacific coast and returned Thursday as he fell ill. Windham and family have long lived in Lincoln.
Earl W. Terryberry, a young farmer on the Louisville road, has purchased a fine new Nash Six from Krejci Nash Co. in this city. The purchase promises comfort and pleasure in future travel.
Discovery night at the Parmele theatre featured John Urish and daughter Miss Geneva with TM m 1 selections then Urish's fiddle and Geneva on banjos. Miss Hope Thomson played popular piano numbers to strong audience approval and the program received a rousing reception.
The Wiles family from Cass county Nebraska and Mills county Iowa gathered at Glenwood city park for their annual third Thursday reunion. Over 100 attendees enjoyed a picnic lunch, elected Charles Wiles as president, and Hoover received the unanimous presidential vote before planning to meet again in Plattsmouth in August 1929.
Construction will begin within two days on the Farmers Creamery and Produce Co. plant in Plattsmouth. Billboards at Main and Richey streets are being removed by Falls City Billboard Co. Andy Weinberg of Peterman Co. will supervise initial site work with the aim of opening the creamery for business in late fall. Local residents expect a major rural community milestone.
In the district court clerk's office this morning two cases were filed. William F. Straub versus George H. Pullen et al seeks to forever quiet title to real estate. Charles T. Grassman versus Catherine M. Grassman pleads desertion, pursued by attorney W. G. Kieck. The plaintiff resides in Louisville.
The Chamber of Commerce held a city government discussion at the public library with a large civic attendance. W G Utterback described the Des Moines style commission in Nebraska City, its salaries, duties, and operation, noting efficiency and lower overhead. A second meeting was planned for September to present the opposing view.
The Merry Stitchers Clothing club at Fairview school house Cedar Creek Nebraska held an achievement program on August 24. The event featured talks on clothing, demonstrations, songs, piano and violin performances, a style show, and a reading. Prizes awarded for sewing bags, clothes pin bags, princess slips, kitchen aprons and a bungalow dress.
Mr and Mrs Earl Arnold welcome a fine little son born Tuesday evening. Mother and baby are doing nicely. Mrs Arnold, formerly Miss Florence Woods of Union, receives many well wishers for the child's future happiness.
Gilbert H. Hirz expresses deep appreciation to those who aided him in the contest at the Soennichsen store and pledges to remember their assistance.

Mrs Julia Eades and her daughter Miss Fern with Mrs D C Morgan and daughter Misa Gertrude visited here from Omaha. Mrs Eades returned home Tuesday after touring the Pacific coast by auto. Miss Fern drove eight days from Omaha to the coast with no tire punctures or blowouts, a notable long distance achievement.
