Simon Gruber longtime Cass county resident died Friday evening at his Union home from a sudden stroke and related complications. Born February 3 1851 in Germany he came to the United States at age four and settled near Union Cass County Nebraska. He married Laura Wolfe May 2 1878 and is survived by five daughters and one son including Louise Johnson Amelia Eaton Leora Chappell Simon Gruber Jr Charlotte Schumaker and Agnes Andrews. Funeral services were held 2:30 PM at the Union home conducted by Rev W A Taylor with burial in Union cemetery southwest of town.
