Last evening at St Luke’s Episcopal church a pageant traced the parish women’s work from 1857 to today as part of the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Auxiliary. Dr T P Livingston reviewed the church societies and each group described ongoing efforts, with the future shown by the Sunday school and bright young participants.

Mrs. Ellen Smith died at her home in the southern part of the city on Thursday. Born September 16, 1849 in Lynn County Iowa, she married Robert Bruce Smith in 1871. Survived by eight children, thirty-one grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and twin brother James Knapp of Mt. Vernon Iowa. Funeral Friday at the family home with Rev. John Calvert of the Methodist church officiating. The service included hymns Does Jesus Care and What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

Michael Cavey Dies Suddenly in Boone County
Boone County Advance records the death of County Commissioner Michael Cavey at his home west of town from heart failure after illness starting Wednesday. Funeral services were Sunday at the Presbyterian church, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Cavey, born December 27 1854 in Westboro Massachusetts, lived on a farm near town and served in public duties including state commissioner and supervisor.
