A serious fire late Thursday near Nelson Jean’s North Sixth Street home damaged the roof and plastering of the Erhart family residence while occupants were away. Neighbors removed belongings. firemen controlled the blaze with several hundred dollars in damages and one crew member injured when a hose cart handle struck his leg.

Funeral of Jacob Grassman Held at Louisville Church
The funeral for Jacob Grassman was conducted Wednesday at the Methodist church in Louisville by Rev. Elliott. Hymns were sung by the choir. Yesterday Miss Mary McHugh sister of Mrs. Thomas Walling of this city, was operated on at an Omaha hospital for a sudden stomach trouble. She has worked as a nurse in Omaha hospitals since graduation, and reports say she is doing very nicely. Her mother Mrs. Kate McHugh and brother Ed Melingh of Falls City were at the hospital during the operation.

Eagles Have Trip to Nebraska City for Initiation
About fifty four members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles traveled to Nebraska City for a lodge visit. The local lodge held a large class initiation performed by the South Omaha degree team. Death of Robert Baird at Beatrice Hospital
Friends report the death of Robert Baird son of Mr. and Mrs. William Baird of this city. He passed away yesterday afternoon at Beatrice hospital after weeks of treatment. The parents left for Beatrice upon learning of his condition and arrived shortly before his death. Robert who had just turned sixteen last May had long suffered poor health and spent most of his life here. Funeral services will be held Sunday once the family returns from Beatrice.

Two serious auto accidents near Weeping Water
Friday night about 9 o clock Clark Switzer and Vincent Betts were in a wreck at Lowle hill. Betts car rolled, three ribs were broken in Vincent, Clark bruised but both survived.
