Retired Pioneer Dies in Mercy Hospital Council Bluffs
Henry E. Schoening 83, a pioneer farmer and retired businessman, died at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs after a three week illness. Born in Holstein Germany, he came to the United States at 19 and spent four decades in Mills County Iowa. He later worked with Petersen and Schoening Furniture in the Bluffs and served 28 years on Militia County School Board plus other local offices. Survived by three sons and three daughters, funeral Monday at 2. He was father in law of Adolph Geise.
