City faces rising enrollments in public schools requiring more rooms and the addition of a manual training and domestic science program. Proposals urge relocating high school to free space for new departments, with a new building on the campus planned as enrollment grows. Also notes arrival of a Remington typewriter for the county clerk’s office.
E L Spies departed last night for New York on No 2 to sail Monday for Panama to begin work as a government machinist on the canal project. He is an expert in his trade, trained in local shops and Havelock, and is expected to excel in the canal zone. His wife will stay locally for a time with her parents before joining him.
The Missouri river near the Burlington depot shows a small rise yesterday then falls below yesterday's mark this morning. The Platte River has begun a small rampage but remains less destructive than past years, with no anticipated major flooding at the moment.
The ladies of St Pauls church gathered at Mrs George Meisingers home for an afternoon of sociable visiting and planning. They discussed spring placement of new concrete walks at the parsonage and enjoyed coffee and cake. A later meeting is set for March 25 at Mrs Frank Parkenings home.
Friday's Dan reports Frank A. Cloidt money order clerk at the post office has completely recovered from scartetina after weeks at home. He was initially thought to have lead poisoning but his illness developed into scartetina and he has been quarantined. Friends are pleased he will resume duties next week.

A Methodist church rally at First Church in the city drew large afternoon and evening attendance. Papers, solos by Mesdames Hayes Howie ter and Seivers, readings by Ellen Windham, and an address by District Superintendent Embree impressed attendees and inspired resolutions for the coming year. The supper, served cafeteria style, tired many volunteers and affected votes for woman suffrage.
Late yesterday Judge Beeson issued a marriage license to Frank McConnell and Miss Gussie Gerk ins, both of Nehawka vicinity. The ceremony was at 5 30 PM at the home of Rev. F M Druliner, First Methodist pastor. The couple, with Mrs Dera McConnell, left for their county home after a wedding supper at Hotel Riley.

James Higley and wife returned home yesterday afternoon from Pacific Junction where they were summoned to appear in a lawsuit to eject parties from their property. Higley notes Pacific Junction faces a house famine like the city, with few livable places available.
A long standing frame residence on Vine Street between Sixth and Seventh now being torn down. John Bauer Jr owns the adjacent lot and plans landscaping, while C Lawrence Stull who bought the house moves it to his farm for building use. The removal ends a longtime eyesore and improves the street’s appearance.
Former school superintendent Prof E L Rouse, head of the state normal school at Penn, will speak to the Loyal Sons class of the Christian church and likely stay several days in Plattsmouth in mid April. He is recognized as a leading figure in state education and helped elevate the Peru normal to high standards.
This morning Ernest Milburn, a baker at the Mumm bakery, suffered a painful accident when three fingers were caught in the dough kneading machine. The machine mashed the fingers and a surgeon was needed to dress the wounds. Injuries require the hand to be bandaged for several days but are not believed to be serious.
Last evening Miss Lucille Randall of Nebraska City attended the all membership rally of the Method ist church and stayed overnight with friends. Rev Randall and family expect to leave for California for an extended visit soon with Mrs Randall and the children departing shortly while Rev Randall remains to close church work.

From Friday's Daily Report the Cass County farm shows a surplus of 1499.96 with produce sales of 4335.32 and on hand value of 930. Superintendent GQ HH Tams runs a businesslike operation with 17 inmates average, 13 current, 1 death, at a cost just over 19 per inmate. The stock includes four work horses, a yearling colt, six milch cows, three young cattle, one heifer horn bull, 46 Poland China horses, 100 Plymouth Rock chickens and four calves. A new building soon to be ready will make Cass County infirmary and farm top in the region.
The Fricke & Co drug store is adding a steel ceiling and plans a thorough interior cleaning and repainting. John Baner is handling the work, with completion expected in a few days, aiming to keep the store in the front ranks of city business.
Andrew Barry returns from Omaha after months recovering from a bee foot ailment. He faced big odds but has made a strong recovery and friends here are pleased by his improving condition.
A. C. Petersen of Mil-Weset Iron Works in Omaha met with jail contractor L. G. Larson to discuss steel and iron for the new jail. Excavation continues and construction is expected to begin soon with a completion target in early July.
The con company led by Gay Coffman and Constance Cofman presented the Broadhurst farce A Fool and His Mone s at Parmecie theater. The cast delivered constant laughter from start to finish in a well staged production that pleased a large audience and surpassed many advertised shows.
Frank Buttery, a Burlington machine shop worker, had his left foot severely mashed when a heavy piece of steel dropped on it. He will miss several days of work until the injury heals.
Peter Rouchka, previously confined at home for weeks with diphtheria, is recovered and able to resume duties. He celebrated his release from quarantine and plans to return to work in the city.
The Lincoln Pure Butter Co has opened a Plattsmouth station at Sixth and Pearl Streets offering the highest market price in cash for produce cream and butter. John Ingram is the manager.

Thomas Meriap of Carew Scotland born August 4 1827 died February 24 1944 at Eagle Nebraska aged 87 years 6 months 29 days. He served in the U S Navy during the Civil War moved to Eagle Neb and was a respected community member with 12 children and a long active life. Funeral services were held at Eagle M E Church and burial was in Rosewood cemetery near Paintram Eagle Beacon.
