James R Porter a Cass county pioneer born 1828 in Steubenville Ohio died at Hagler Neb after a fall illness. He came to Cass county in 1859 and was a Democratic gubernatorial nominee in 1860s. Survived by wife Ming lente Gould Porter two daughters Mrs Ida Larned and Maude Porter and son Farmuel Gould Porter.
