Southwest Iowa Best for Corn Paper Plants
Iowa officials say Fremont Mills Pottawattamie and Harrison counties along the Missouri river are the best sites for corn paper manufacturing due to high proportions of corn husked from standstalks. Rail transport limits and 20 mile economic gathering radius shape plant locations in smaller towns with good rail access. Corn paper could aid in combating the corn borer while using stalks not harmed by the pest.
