Mayor and Mrs Lushinsky Begin Colorado Utah Vacation

Mayor George Lushinsky and his wife departed Sunday for a two week trip through Colorado and Utah. They will visit Colorado Springs at the home of William Lushinsky before continuing to Salt Lake City. In the mayor’s absence E A Webb, first ward councilman and city council president, will assume mayoral duties.

Weidman Family Reunion Spreads Through Lincoln Visit

Mr and Mrs George E Weidman stopped in Lincoln for a day with relatives including Fred Kroehler a sister of Mr Weidman. Henry E Weidman from Chicago joined the gathering with Fred Ebinger and Fred Weidman of Plainview. The Weidmans plan to visit Plainview and then the old Plattsmouth home.

Card Shower for Charles E Hartford on Birthday

Charles E Hartford of Boone Iowa a former Plattsmouth resident received a Friday card shower from about sixty old friends and business associates. He thanks the Journal for the thoughtful wishes and reports improving health able to enjoy short car rides and feels much better.

Lincoln relatives visit Mr and Mrs Kinnamon and Mrs Gartieman

A surprise Sunday gathering at the Kinnamon and Gartieman home drew relatives from Lincoln. Guests included Mrs Charles A Kinnamon, Mr and Mrs Phil Kinnamon, Mrs Ruth Summers and children Ralph and Barbara. They returned home Sunday night.

Veterans Receive $70,000 in Bonds Sent to Nebraska Veterans

A Missouri Pacific train delivered 132 veteran bond recipients to Plattsmouth. post office staff began delivering at 8 am. Bonds valued around $70,000 were printed, checked, and packed by the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City for Nebraska, Kansas, and nearby states, with Postmaster Cummins hosting a bond receipt event.

Carrie Ellison 82 Dies at Nebraska Masonic Home

Mrs. Carrie Ellison aged 82 died Sunday at the Nebraska Masonic Home after a years long illness. Born November 29, 1853 in Perry Iowa she moved to the Home from Rawalt lodge 138 Oxford Nebraska. She leaves a son Frank O. Ellison of Omaha and her funeral was held at Horton funeral home with Dr Luther M Kuhns officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill cemetery Masonic Plot.

J. F. M meets at Miss Bier’s country home

The J. F. M. held their monthly gathering at Miss Sophia Bier’s home with all charter members present except Miss Marjorie Fitch and Miss Grace Louise Wiles. Prizes went to Cleda Koukal Louise Rishel and Bernese Kaffenberger as members enjoyed games and refreshments served by Mrs. Bier and her daughters Frances and Virginia.

Mrs. Ida Cole of Cass county hosts a quiet wedding at her country home to James R. Tremble of the city. The service was read by Dr. H. G. McClusky of the First Presbyterian church. The couple will reside on a farm south of town and welcome friends.

Funeral of William E De Wolfe in Plattsmouth

Funeral services for William E. De Wolfe were held Saturday at Fassbender Funeral Home in Nebraska City. De Wolfe, longtime Lincoln Telephone Co. employee, was remembered by many friends and associates. Rev Ralph Nelson conducted the services at the funeral home, with Oak Hill Cemetery services led by Plattsmouth Eagle Aerie No 365 officers. Birthday gathering marks 45th for Mr Franzen in Omaha area

Mrs. Mary Hunnicutt sister of Mrs. M. B. Briggs has lived in Indianola Iowa with her daughter. Miss Hazel Hunnicutt visited Plattsmouth over the weekend and joined Mrs. Briggs. They all spent Sunday at Elmwood Park Omaha with Leland Briggs and family Paul Stangenberg and family C. B. Briggs and family and others as they celebrated Mr Franzen’s 45th birthday with a park dinner.

An action has been filed in the district court clerk’s office by Florence Nelson against Fay Nelson for a decree of divorce and alimony. The couple married in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 11, 1928. the plaintiff now resides in Cass County.

Bethel No 24 of Job's Daughters installed officers Tuesday evening in the Masonic building witnessed by a large order contingent including state officers L. F. Fitch and Velva Schlorss. Phyllis Hopkins presided with a team of past queens aiding. Rachel Robertson named Queen for six months with a slate of officers led by Jean Knorr Eleanor Minor and others. Retiring queen Alice Jane Hirz received a jewel as part of the ceremony followed by light refreshments and recognition of adult Bethel officers.

Gas theft and arson tied to Louisville section house

Duane Garrison of Weeping Water and Ernest Kride of Louisville were arraigned in county court on breaking and entering charges. They allegedly stole gasoline from a Missouri Pacific section house at Louisville and started a fire that destroyed the building. Bond was set and they were released pending their hearing.
